Pediatric Mental Health Referrals: The Impact of Parental Discrimination on Healthcare Decision-Making - ALACRITY Pilot Project Presentation series

Description

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

In this presentation, Xenia Johnson-Bhembe, MD, will share results from a mixed-methods pilot study examining the difference in referral rates between Black and White children, the relationship between Black parents' experiences of discrimination and follow-through on pediatric mental health referrals for their children. Respondents completed a validated discrimination scale and participated in semi-structured interviews focused on experiences of racism, trust of the healthcare system in relation to racism, and racism’s link to their decision to follow through on mental health referral for their child.
